Cowan's to Host May 17th Fine Jewelry and Timepieces Auction

Cowan's Auctions Fine Jewelry and Timepieces Auction will take place on May 17th, 2015 at 12:00 PM EST. The sale will include over 250 lots and will be held at Cowan's Auctions salesroom. It will offer fine collections of signed and unsigned jewelry, timepieces, and other couture. This auction will feature a broad selection of fine colored and white diamonds, pearls, and precious stone jewelry. Of special note are designer pieces by renowned makers such as Tiffany & Co., Mason-Kay, Rolex, Patek Philippe, Baume & Mercier, Turler, and Saks and others.


Highlighted in the sale is a Tiffany & Co. Rare and Important Tanzanite, Pearl, Diamond, and Precious Gemstone Necklace with eleven strands of well-matched Akoyla pearls, an eye drawn to the 24.5mm by 14mm pear shaped Tanzanite weighting approximately 28 carats, and a body formed from Platinum and 18 karat yellow gold set with one hundred and forty eight VS2, G color round brilliant diamonds weighing approximately 22 carats total. There are eight matching pearl shaped deep green emeralds weighing approximately 1.6 carats along with five matching pear shaped blue sapphires weighing 2.5 carats, and an 18k gold frame attached to the rear that allows the wearer to disassemble it to be worn in different ways. This beautifully crafted piece is estimated at $60,000/90,000.


A Fancy Light Yellow G.I.A. Certified Diamond Fashion Ring is estimated to bring $40,000/60,000. This piece features a lovely pear shaped yellow diamond in the center weighing 4.01 carats surrounded by twenty-seven round yellow diamonds set in yellow gold weighing approximately .22 carats with twelve pear shaped diamonds and thirty five round diamonds weighing approximately 2 carats total.


A G.I.A. Certified 2.55 carat round brilliant diamond is estimated to sell for $40,000/60,000. Another G.I.A certified 3.19 Carat Cushion cut Diamond, is expected to bring anywhere between $30,000/45,000.


Rings and necklaces are also expected to perform well in the auction. An A.G.L. Certified Natural Burmese Sapphire Ring is estimated at $22,000/33,000. A Large Collection of Diamond and Gemstone Jewelry is expected to bring $21,500/32,000, and a Magnificent Multi Color Sapphire Necklace with Diamonds is estimated to sell for $38,500/57,500. 


The auction will also feature a variety of items in the timepieces portion of the sale. Cowan's will be offering a Rolex President in 18 Karat Yellow Gold, estimated at $8,000/12,0000 and a Longines Platinum Bracelet Watch with Diamonds is expected to bring $8,000/12,000 as well.


Additional notable lots that will hit the auction block on May 17th include a G.I.A. Certified Natural Gray Opal Ring in Platinum with Diamonds estimated at $17,000/25,000, a Natural Pearl Necklace with a G.I.A. Certification is also expected to bring $17,000/25,000, and an A.G.T.A. Certified Natural Pink Sapphire in Platinum with Diamonds is estimated at $12,000/18,000.
