Rare J.P. Gemmer, St. Louis, Mo. Marked Heavy 10 Gauge Shotgun
11/3/2015 - 11/5/2015 Firearms and Militaria: Live Salesroom Auction
10 gauge, 26.5" barrel lengths, no S/N. Marking on top of the barrel on the rib "J.P. Gemmer" next to "St. Louis, Mo." next to "Laminated Steel."  Markings on each side of the lock "J.P. Gemmer" next to "St. Louis, Mo."  Locks have a nice decorative scroll engraving with a border.  Barrel has a Gemmer flip-up rifle sight and a rear bead sight.  Brown finish on the barrels with case colored lock.  Fancy checkered walnut stock and forearm.  Gemmer took over the famed gun shop of Sam Hawkin in the early 1860s.

Condition:  
Retains most of the brown finish on the barrel.  The locks show a mute silvery case color.  Fancy checkered stocks are very good.  This double was intended for close range dangerous or large game out West with a solid ball or heavy buck shot.  This gun overall is very good plus.
