Beatrice Wood (1893-1998; USA)
10/23/2015 - Modern Ceramics and Art: Live Saleseroom Auction
Multi-handled Luster Vessel
ca 1980
Earthenware; ht. 11.25, wd. 8.5, dp. 8.25 in.
Artist Beato signature on base.

Finding a work by Wood over 10" high is rare and this magnificent multi-handled vessel is a rare find indeed. Multicolored luster, that which thrilled the artist, was her most difficult glaze and this example must have pleased her tremendously, a truly major work by this highly gifted artist.
