Model 1840 D. Nippes Musket with Hewes & Phillips Conversion
4/30/2014 - Firearms and Militaria: Live Salesroom Auction
.69 caliber, 42" round barrel. Lockplate marked D. Nippes, US. In the rear of lockplate marked Mill Creek PA 1843. Walnut stock with three barrel bands.

Condition:  
Barrel has nice tarnished gunmetal grey look. Lock has a gunmetal grey look with sharp and crisp markings. Bands have been lightly cleaned to grey.  Buttplate with grey to brown patina.  Triggerguard has dark untouched brown patina. Stock with some nicks and dings, two legible cartouches on the left flat opposite of lock.
