English, 19th century. An assembled group of four Staffordshire pottery Civil War black transfer decorated wares, including a shaving mug with a transfer of Maj. Gen. Q.A. Gillmore on one side and Maj. Gen. Geo. G. Meade on the other, and three child's alphabet plates, the centers with transfers of Maj. Gen. Geo. G. Meade, Maj. Gen. Q.A. Gillmore and Major General N.P. Banks, the border of plates with relief molded letters of the alphabet, unmarked; plate dia. 5 in., mug ht. 3.25 in.

Condition:  
Mug has chip to foot rim. Plates with some staining. Gillmore plate with chip to rim. Meade plate with small chip to rim. Banks plate with small glaze loss to border.
