U.S. Springfield Model 1816 Converted Percussion Musket
4/30/2014 - Firearms and Militaria: Live Salesroom Auction
.69 caliber, 42" round barrel. Converted to percussion by means of a percussion nipple in the top of barrel. Lockplate marked
Springfield
and dated
1841
. Three barrel bands; walnut stock.
Condition:
Barrel has a very old untouched patina. Some pitting on the top of barrel around the percussion nipple. Stock is very good with remnants of a cartouche on the left flat. A small piece of wood missing on the front of lockplate. Tang has had some work done and needs to be replaced or properly repaired.
