Half-Stock Plains Rifle by William Hudson
4/30/2014 - Firearms and Militaria: Live Salesroom Auction
.50 caliber, 35" octagonal barrel. Markings on top of barrel "W. Hudson, Maker, Cin. O."  Brown barrel, hammer, back lock, buttplate, trigger and triggerguard. Notched ferule and buckhorn rear barrel site. Walnut stock with ramrod and German silver escutcheons. This gun was probably shipped from Cincinnati down the Ohio River to Louisville and all points West.

Condition:  
All metal has brown finish. Some pitting on top and scratches on barrel. Stock has a crack running from pewter tip just past the escutcheons. Stock also has some nicks and dings. Stock around the buttplate has an untouched black patina. Overall in good condition.
