Brass Barrel "Roman Nose" Curly Maple Percussion Rifle
4/30/2014 - Firearms and Militaria: Live Salesroom Auction
.36 caliber rifled, 31" octagonal-to-round brass barrel with raised ribbing on barrel. Oval patchbox. Buttplate, 3 ferules and escutcheons are all brass, with ramrod. Steel trigger, trigger plate and triggerguard. Engraved 8-pointed star inlaid on cheek piece. Curly maple stock with checkered grips.
Condition:
Brass furniture has a dark mustard to brown patina. Steel parts have an untouched black patina. Stock has a dark patina and shows nicks and dings. Crack forward of finial on triggerguard to the rear of the ram rod ferule. Gun has a wonderful symmetry and is good overall.
