Confederate J.P. Murray Type 11 Mississippi Rifle
4/30/2014 - Firearms and Militaria: Live Salesroom Auction
.69 caliber, 33" barrel. "PRO., FCH" proof on left side of the barrel at the breech; unmarked lock. Walnut stock with original brass buttplate, original brass triggerguard. Carved initials "MC" on left side of the stock at the butt.

Condition:  
Barrel has a deep brown patina with some pitting.  Some dings in the top of barrel between the rear barrel sight and first band. Some pitting around the percussion bolster. Lock with deep dark brown patina and some pitting blending in. Original lock and hammer. Rear barrel sight is a old replacement made of brass. Forward part of the stock has been professionally replaced, and they used original Model 1841 rifle rear band and front band. Rear portion of the stock still retains a very nice undisturbed dark patina. Saber bayonet attachment is an original made of brass. A very rare Confederate rifle.
