Model 1847 Cavalry Musketoon
4/30/2014 - Firearms and Militaria: Live Salesroom Auction
.69 caliber, 26" round barrel with proof marks V P and eagle at breech.  Dated 1851; lockplate marked 1853 Springfield with eagle over US.   Brass furniture with walnut stock. This is a first type cavalry musketoon.

Condition:  
Barrel is gunmetal grey with staining and pitting. Lock is grey with staining and pitting.  Walnut stock has been cut to a carbine-style; has some nicks and dings with a dim cartouche.
