American (Pennsylvania), 1823.  Partial label indicating sitter Susan Arnold Rebers?, Penn, November 1823, Aged 41 years.  Oil on wove canvas, unsigned.  Newspaper once ccovered the reverse, and the aged label is actually affixed above the newspaper.  Unframed; 31.5 x 24 in.

Condition:  
Considerable damage.  The portrait is in unrestored condition.  Considerable flaking to the right side, stretcher lines, a tear to left center, very little craquelure.
