Rev War-Used Restocked 1777 Charleville
4/30/2014 - Firearms and Militaria: Live Salesroom Auction
.70 caliber, 41" round barrel. 1777 Charleville parts, lock, barrel, grooved triggerguard. Bands are from a very early musket. Crude style of early stocking with trade musket-style brass butt plate. Interesting how the rear band is held to the stock by the use of three band springs.

Condition:
This musket is in what we term "the black," or "attic untouched."  All metal is brown with pitting and never been cleaned.  Stock is totally black with old age cracks in the butt. Brass buttplate has a crack through the top screw and has aged.

This is an outstanding Rev. War-used restocked musket - a history in itself of the use and recycling of parts to be used for battle.
