American (Ohio), 19th century.  A Whitewater Shaker linen press in walnut with pinned construction, single board sides, a molded cornice over paneled doors opening to interior shelves, over two scratch-beaded drawers, rising on bracket feet; ht. 50.25, wd. 46, dp. 19.5 in.  <i>According to Joanne Pennington, Jane Murphy's long-time friend, this press was removed from a  home in Crosby County, Ohio.  New Haven, the former Whitewater Shaker settlement was located in the same township <i.>.
