.462 Hex bore diameter, 36" round barrel. Marked on the top flat
Whitworth Patent
, patent breech. Percussion lock engraved with a crown in the rear and on the forward part is
Manchester Ordinance & Rifle Co.
Safety on lock. Long range rear tang sight and front hood sight. Very finely checkered walnut stock with horn tip and pistol grip cap. Checkered steel buttplate.
Condition:
Barrel has nice brown patina with some blue in the protected areas. Sharp markings. Mottled case colors on the tang. Lockplate and hammer are sharp with some case colors in the protected areas. Stock is very sharp with untouched crisp checkering and retaining most of the original varnished finish with minimal nicks and dings. Bore is excellent. Has the Whitworth bullet mold.
