CDV of 83rd OVI Field Officers
4/30/2014 - Firearms and Militaria: Live Salesroom Auction
CDV group shot of three including Col. Moore, Lt. Col. Baldwin and Maj. L'Hommedieu
taken summer 1864
with A.D. Lytle, Baton Rouge, LA imprint. Col. Moore and Col. Baldwin both received promotions to brevet brigadier in 1865. All three officers became notables in Cincinnati. The regiment served in the western theater, seeing heavy fighting at Vicksburg and Jackson. Transferred to the Dept. of the Gulf, the 83rd was engaged at Sabine Cross Roads and Ft. Blakely at the end of the war.
