Two CDVs, Iowa Cav. BBGs: Datus E. Coon and Herman H. Heath

Lot of 2:

Coon, Datus Ensing (1831-1893). Coon enlisted in late summer after Congress approved an additional 500,000 troops in July. He was commissioned major in the Iowa 2nd Cav.  He received a promotion to Colonel in May 1864 and his brevet BG in March 1865. Cdv with oval portrait in printed "frame," no photographer's ID.

Heath, Herman H. (ca 1823-1874). Heath enlisted in June 1861 as a 1st Lieut. In August he was commissioned into Co. G, 1st IA Cav. and in just a couple months was promoted to Captain of Co. L. He received a promotion to Major in Jan. 1863, and by May was commissioned into F&S of the 7th IA Cav. He received brevets of Brig. Gen. and Maj. Gen. in March 1865, and was commissioned Colonel in May of that year. Cdv with backmark of Kimball, Leavenworth, KS.

Western theater cdvs relatively rare.

Coon is very good to excellent. Heath is moderately toned and foxed, with corners soft or even worn off.
