David Hunter, his cousin, before, during, and after the war Strother was a noted writer and illustrator under the pen name "Porte Crayon," including war dispatches for Harper's, and was appointed General Consul to Mexico by Pres. Hayes in 1879. Bvt. Brig. Gen. John H. Oley, Col., 7th West Virginia Cav. Bvt. Brig. Gen. Joseph Roberts, Col., 3rd Penn. Heavy Artillery, two brevets, lithographic carte by C. Bohn. Bvt. Brig. Gen.
