Vignette of Maj. Gen. Philip H. Sheridan, by Lilienthal, New Orleans, autographed beneath portrait with rank. Sheridan's wartime exploits are well known. He was later advanced to Lieutenant General and full General and became Commander-in-Chief of the US Army in 1883. Received the Thanks of Congress in 1865.
