Gettysburg Interest: Rare CDV of James Clay Rice-Hero of LRT
4/30/2014 - Firearms and Militaria: Live Salesroom Auction
Rare view by S.J. Thompson & Co., Albany, NY, of Brig. Gen. James Clay Rice as Col. 44th NY armed with sword; a Gettysburg hero who assumed command of Strong Vincent's brigade on Little Round Top and brevetted Brig. Gen. for same. This gallant officer was later severely wounded at Spotsylvania on May 10, 1864, suffering the loss of a leg from which he died.
