.28 caliber, 28" swapped octagonal barrel. Marked on the top of barrel
Josh Griffth Louisville Ky
. Bevel-shaped lock and hammer. Double-set triggers, fancy triggerguard. Iron mounted. Carved walnut stock with checkered wrist and wood sliding patchbox. Nicely carved molding along the ramrod channel. cheek piece with a carved panel behind cheek piece.
Joseph H. Griffth made rifles in Louisville from 1843-1878, as well as locks and derringers.
Condition:
Barrel with very sharp lines and crisp markings, and plum brown finish. Lock and hammer are smooth with dark brown patina. Stock is very nice, but does have some nicks and dings.
