"AFFIDAVIT AS TO THE PROVENANCE OF "BLACK ARMY" U.S. COLT AUTOMATIC PISTOL MODEL 1911 SN 423312 This pistol was given to me around 1953 by my uncle, retired Colonel Lucian B. Moody, who was the husband of my father's sister. He stated that it was his personal sidearm, dating from when he was in France in WWI as an ordnance officer (was a West Point graduate). His service after WWI included such as Governors Island in New York, Watervliet Arsenal, and Picatinny Arsenal, where he was Commandant. In WWII he commanded the arsenal in LaPorte Indiana, and then after the war went to China as an advisor to the Nationalist Army. His son, George, was a West Point graduate, went into the Air Corps and was killed testing a new plane just before WWII. Moody Field in Georgia is named after him. Lucian Moody's daughter was married to another West Pointer, who flew B-17's in WWII."
