.45 caliber, 38.25" octagonal barrel signed on the top flat in engraved script "
Thomas Douglas
." Buckhorn rear sight, German silver blade front sight. Four-piece engraved patch box, 12 silver inlays, Federal period eagle and snake engraved on silver oval inlay on cheek piece; brass furniture. Maple stock with incised carved moulding lines. Thomas Douglas was a maker of full-stock percussion rifles and worked in McConnellstown, Pennsylvania.
Condition:
Barrel with nice deep dark brown patina. Lockplate has been cleaned to bright and has some brown patina along the edges. Percussion drum is a replacement. Brass furniture has untouched patina. Stock has dark untouched patina with some nicks and dings.
