Remington Model 1894 EEO Grade Side-by-Side Double-Barrel Shotgun
4/30/2014 - Firearms and Militaria: Live Salesroom Auction
16 ga., 28" ordnance steel barrels choked C/C, S/N
110475
. Blue barrels, DT, ejectors. Finely figured checkered walnut stocks. LOP 14.125" over solid rubber recoil pad, drop at heel 2.5", drop at comb 2". Exquisitely engraved receiver (likely by Remington master engraver Joseph Loy) featuring two partridges and a dog's head on the left panel, two woodcocks and a duck on the right panel, two deer on the bottom panel, and the balance done in scroll and vine patterns and two ribands with "
Remington Arms Co.
" Featured in Charles Semmer's book,
Remington Double Shotguns,
(1996: 190-191). Mr. Semmer states that he has examined 48 EE grade 1894s over the years and only five are 16 ga., making this a rare and desirable double gun.
Condition:
Very good condition with excellent bores. The barrels have been re-blued and the stocks have been expertly refinished. The receiver has traces of original case colors in protected areas and the takedown lever is right of center. The sling swivel studs have been removed and the hole in the stock has been plugged and there are plug screws in the bottom of the rib. This is truly a rare and collectible Remington double gun and one of the highest quality firearms of its day.
