Model 1880 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle TRB
4/30/2014 - Firearms and Militaria: Live Salesroom Auction
45-70 caliber, 32.5" round barrel with large
V P
and eagle, S/N
375797
. With sliding triangular bayonet. Walnut stock.
Condition:
This rifle was probably assembled by the arsenal for surplus sales which explains why it is out of the serial range for the TRB's. Barrel still retains much of the original blue finish. Breechblock and tang still retain some of the original case colors. Stock has some nicks and dings. Interesting variant in collecting SA rifles.
