Model 1866 Springfield 2nd Allen Rifle
4/30/2014 - Firearms and Militaria: Live Salesroom Auction
.50-70 caliber, 40" barrel. Breechblock marked
1866
with eagle. Two-leaf rear barrel sight. Three barrel bands; walnut stock.
Condition:
Barrel with burnished bright finish with some pitting mixing in. Breechblock still retains most of the original blackened finish. Hammer and lockplate still retain most of the original case color finish, just slightly darkening. Stock with mint and crisp line and a mint cartouche.
