American, 19th century. An oval covered pantry box, having a pine top and bottom with bent maple sides, joined with two opposing fingers and metal tacks, painted with a black and gold band around the center against a red ground, the lid decorated with a recumbent stag in a tree-covered landscape, inscribed DOB in pencil on the bottom and having obscured pencil inscriptions on the underside of the lid; ht. 1.5, dia. 3.75 x 4.75 in.
