Model 1842 Springfield Percussion Musket
4/30/2014 - Firearms and Militaria: Live Salesroom Auction
.69 caliber, 42" round barrel smoothbore. V P and eagle at breech, dated 1848 on the tang. Lockplate marked Springfield with eagle, and marked in the rear of lockplate Springfield and dated 1846. Three barrel bands with walnut stock.

Condition:  
Metal has been lightly cleaned to bright.  Stock has no cartouche but has a mint open-grained look with deep dark red look to stock finish.  Very sharp and crisp lines to the wood.
