Signed Canteen, War of 1812 Era
4/12/2014 - Americana: Live Salesroom Auction
American, early 19th century. A signed canteen in original blue paint, with two hand-wrought bands, attached with wrought iron brads and having three metal loops to secure the leather strap. The canteen probably dates to the War of 1812. The name
J. Slemmer
(possibly for Jacob Slemmer a Pennsylvania cooper) is stamped on the face; dia. 7 in.

Leather strap broken, missing plug, wear to painted surface.
