Lot of two, including one ninth plate and one sixth plate tintype from the same sitting, showing a sharply dressed young African American gentleman.  Both housed in simple Union cases with modern notes purporting that the subject is James Washington, a former slave who became a successful businessman in Fairfax, Virginia.
