Wooden box affixed with GAR and infantry insignia on the lid.  8 x 4.75 x 2.75 in.  Leather hinges; inside of box and lid is lined with a browned, soiled, and glue-damaged broadside titled Instructions to the Officers Appointed to Recruit in New York for the Services of the United States of America, printed by Samuel Loudon in 1776 (authenticity cannot be determined).

Condition:  
Leather hinges not affixed to bottom section.
