Indian-Used "Condemned" Colt Draper Single Action Army Revolver
4/30/2014 - Firearms and Militaria: Live Salesroom Auction

Barrel number just to the left of the cylinder pin matches. All numbers match including the cylinder with inspector's initials JTC. Two-line patent markings on the frame. Single-line barrel address with no hyphens. Nickel finish with walnut grips. Walnut grips have some steel studs on the left grip and one in the center of the right grip.

These condemned revolvers were sold by Colt to H.D. Folsom for commercial use. Indians would capture them and use them until they would not function.

This revolver was used by the late Arnold Marcus Cheroff in a display for the Ohio Gun Collectors, titled Guns of the Little Bighorn.  Pictured on page 32 Of the new book Ohio Gun Collectors: The First 75 Years by Thomas D. Schiffer.

Condition:
This revolver is very consisted with an Indian-used revolver. The ejector housing is missing, barrel is well worn. Dark brown patina throughout with traces of nickel finish in some protected areas. Grips are well-worn with nicks, dings and some scratches. Bore is poor, and mechanically needs some work on the mainspring. It does function.
