Second Model Virginia Manufacture Flintlock Rifle
10/25/2012 - Historic Firearms and Militaria: Live Salesroom Auction
.44 caliber, 39" octagonal barrel. Lockplate marked Virginia front of the hammer and under the pan.  Rear of lockplate marked Richmond and dated 1821. Barrel is unmarked. Brass four-piece patchbox, brass furniture.  Walnut stock with some incised carved lines running parallel with the ramrod channel.

Condition:  
Barrel is nice smooth dark brown with some pitting around the touch hole.  Lock and hammer are a nice dark smooth brown with some pitting in and around the pan.  Stock is excellent with a deep dark brown untouched patina and open-grained look.
