American, ca 1880s. A charcoal and gouache highly detailed portrayal of a Civil War battle scene; 22.25 x 33 in., housed in gilt and gesso frame, 33 x 44 in.

The action-packed painting, which captures Union troops charging the enemy, veiled by clouds of smoke in the distance, bears a strong likeness to the Civil War lithographs produced by Kurz & Allison.


Condition:  
Housed in gilt and gesso frame, 33 x 44 in. Frame has some loss along left edge and top edge.
