American (Ohio), 19th century. A Shaker weaver's chair retaining its original cantaloupe orange paint, with three slats, seven stretchers, hickory woven seat; oah. 40.5, seat ht. 20 in.

The melon-colored paint on this chair is a characteristic of Union Village furniture. This chair was pictured in the book The Shaker Chair by Charles. R. Muller and Timothy D. Reiman (1992), p. 105.
